Yes! The uterus and cervix are just one part of a woman’s body. Just because you no longer need a Pap smear after a hysterectomy doesn’t mean you don’t need preventative care for the whole of you.
Every woman should have a pelvic exam yearly. Just because you don’t need a pap smear doesn’t mean your other pelvic organs shouldn’t be examined preventatively. Get a trained set of eyes “down there” to ensure you are healthy in the places you can’t see.
Annual exams are a way to ensure preventative health. You need your blood pressure monitored. You need to know about preventative needs for your age. Make sure you are up to date on immunizations. Get a breast and skin exam. Have someone feel your ovaries. Monitor when you need a mammogram or colonoscopy. Discuss how you feel, your overall well-being, and your management of stress.
At Bradley Gynecology, we are committed to your preventative wellness.
